I know that for many people YouTube background playback is a dream, that they tried to do it but never succeeded. But it’s actually quite possible and I’ll show you how to do it.
First of all I want to remind you that this is a gray area, where you get to bypass some boundaries set in place by the producer to monetize his service.
The YouTube background playback is a feature that is blocked intentionally by Google so that they can charge for the YouTube Music service which lets you listen to music on background if you play a monthly charge.
How to achieve YouTube background playback
Well, not using the official app, that’s for sure. As I say earlier, it’s a not feature freely provided by YouTube so we find a way around it.
Or, better said, use a solution made possible by the smart people from XDA Forum that found a way around it.
So, without further ado, I present to you the YouTube Vanced.
What is YouTube Vanced
YouTube Vanced is a modified version of the YouTube app for Android. It has all the features you love or/and hate plus some nice new ones like the background playback.
I’m not an engineer but I asume they achieve this by bypassing the limitation set in place by YouTube for stopping the sound when the app is not in focus.
